Angela is President of Perez APC, an international design-build-develop firm. She was just named 2016 Small Business Person of the Year, New Orleans, by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Angela She is a passionate advocate for women in architecture and construction, and works with professional and non-profit organizations dedicated to the advancement of women in the industry. Angela is a licensed architect in 15 states, a licensed general contractor in 2 states, a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, and a LEED Accredited Professional. She has successfully led complex design and construction projects around the world, including a $500 Million USAID contract in Afghanistan—the largest infrastructure construction contract awarded to a women-owned business to date by the USAID-Afghanistan Mission.
In addition, Angela has positioned her firm as an industry leader in disaster recovery, as evidenced by an extensive portfolio of architectural and damage assessment work in response to natural disasters including Hurricanes Sandy and Katrina. During the aftermath of Sandy and with the support of the Women’s Venture Fund, Angela was able to quickly establish a field office location, procure equipment and vehicles and mobilize a team of over 20 technical field personnel to assist over 4,000 homeowners rebuild their homes through New York City’s Build it Back Program. Angela was selected as one of the Women’s Builders Council (WBC) Outstanding Women of 2015. In 2014, Angela received the Runner Up Women in Business Award by SBA Louisiana, and in 2013, Perez was named the SBA Louisiana District Women-Owned Business of the Year.
