Website Essentials
Here are tip
s and techniques to grow your brand in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
If you still think you do not need a website, think again. A website is an affordable marketing tool which can serve the needs of both consumer and service businesses.
Here are some terms you should be aware of to enable you to work with a website pro to achieve or implement yourself.
• Keywords: Words and phrases that enable search engines to find your pages.
• Long-tail keywords: These are phrases that contain more detail and are more specific. They can draw in people who are ready to buy, not just browse. An example of a long-tail key phrase is “GMO-free grain cereal for toddlers”. It is very specific and any company selling it will appear at the top of the results rather than the results of a short-tail term, such as grain cereal.
• Let visitors get to know you by including your bio and/or company story. And never hide behind an avatar.
• Prominently place your contact information, including your phone number.
• Use landing pages to highlight new products, services, offers, and special events with a link to features and clear call-to-actions.
• Place the most important or newest content above the fold of the page.
Email Marketing
Use your own company name as your domain; it is more professional looking than gmail, yahoo, or hotmail. Many website providers, like GoDaddy and Wix, include a company domain in their hosting package or sell them separately for only a few dollars a month.
